Children’s Dentistry
At The Bondi Dentists, we welcome children and families from Bondi Junction and across the Eastern Suburbs. We aim to make dental visits calm, positive and age-appropriate, helping children become familiar with dental care from an early age.
We welcome children for their first dental visit from around two years of age, when most toddlers have developed their full set of baby teeth. Every child is different, so the first visit can be kept relaxed and gradual depending on their comfort level.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
A first appointment may include meeting the dental team, becoming familiar with the treatment room, a gentle examination of the teeth and gums, and a discussion with parents about brushing, diet and dental development. The aim is to help your child feel comfortable and build confidence with future dental visits.
Regular Check-Ups and Preventive Care
Regular dental check-ups allow us to monitor your child’s teeth, gums, bite and dental development as they grow. Appointments may include an examination, professional cleaning where appropriate, oral-hygiene advice and guidance for parents.
Sports Mouthguards
Children who participate in contact sport can benefit from a custom-made sports mouthguard designed to fit their developing teeth and jaws. Your dental team can advise when a mouthguard is appropriate and when it should be replaced as your child grows.
Monitoring Dental Development
Routine dental visits can help identify concerns involving the position, spacing or development of teeth and jaws. Where further assessment is appropriate, we can recommend an orthodontist or another dental specialist.

Good oral-health habits begin at home. We can help children and parents with brushing, oral-hygiene routines, dietary guidance and practical ways to protect teeth between dental visits.
CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE
The Bondi Dentists accepts eligible children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). Parents or guardians pay the practice’s fees in full and claim any eligible benefit directly from Medicare. Our team can check your child’s eligibility and remaining balance if requested. Please contact us before the appointment if you would like assistance with this.
APPROPRIATE SPECIALIST REFERRALS
If your child requires treatment or assessment outside the scope of our practice, we can recommend an appropriate dental specialist and discuss the reason for the referral with you.
