Comprehensive Examinations and Cleaning
A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit. At regular check-up intervals, your dentist and hygienist will give you a comprehensive examination (including diagnostic x-rays, if required) to help in the early detection of decay or any other problems. We will also check your gums for any signs of periodontal disease, check your teeth for decay and also check your existing restorations such as fillings, crowns etc.
If it’s been a while since you had a check-up, contact our friendly team to arrange a consultation.
We do everything we can to help your teeth last as long as possible, hopefully for a lifetime. Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible and sometimes we will need to remove a tooth that has been too badly damaged to restore. We will only make the decision to recommend a tooth extraction after conducting diagnostic tests to confirm this is the only viable option. Consultation with our patients is paramount to discuss options for tooth extraction and replacement as even a single missing tooth can have a negative affect on your dental health.
Composite or white fillings are used to repair teeth that are suffering from decay, cracks, fractures or defective older fillings. There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth.
The word “Periodontal” means around the teeth. Periodontal disease attacks the gums and bone that support your teeth. Your dentist and dental hygienist will evaluate your stage of periodontal disease, present you with all the necessary information and recommend the appropriate treatment dependent upon the type and severity of the disease that may be affecting you.
Helping you with your oral hygiene is one of the most important aspects of our practice. We are fortunate to have as part of our team a highly trained, tertiary educated dental hygienist, who will play a vital role in your oral health care.
Expert Advice and Preventative Dentistry
We strongly believe that one of the most important areas of our practice is to work with you to develop a preventive care programme that can easily be incorporated into your daily “at home” oral care routine. The main purpose of preventive dental care is to prevent potential oral health problems in their early stage and intervene before more severe problems develop.
