The Bondi Dentists warmly welcomes Dr Michelle Ever Juan as the Principal Dentist, taking over from Dr Keith Baetz, who remains on board to focus on the specialised fields of Prosthodontics and Dental Sleep Medicine which he is renowned for.
Dr Michelle Ever Juan
Dr Michelle Ever Juan was raised in Manila, Philippines where she earned the degree Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2005 from Centro Escolar University. She also achieved the distinction of being ranked third in the National Dental Board Examinations for general dental practitioners.
Michelle then pursued further education. She was awarded her Master of Science in Dental Education in 2008 from the same institution.
In 2009, Michelle moved to Australia and in 2010 she received her qualifications from the Australian Dental Council and began practicing general dentistry in Sydney.
With an interest in Restorative Dentistry, particularly Cosmetic and Minimally Invasive treatments, Michelle is keen on preventative and early intervention, focusing on the close relationship between general and oral health.
As part of this aspect of dentistry, Michelle is enthusiastic about the use of tooth coloured restorative materials, also known as composite fillings. With its multitude of applications for dental treatment, together with aesthetic results, it is one of Michelle’s favourite materials for restoring teeth to health, combined with a pleasing cosmetic outcome.
Michelle is also a qualified Invisalign® provider, enjoying the challenging and rewarding nature of making a difference in people’s smiles with the use of removable sequential aligner technology as an alternative to conventional fixed orthodontics.
Michelle is a member of the Australian Dental Association.
Nikolaos started his career in dentistry as a Dental Technician back in 1989. As a technician, he specialised in the field of ceramic crown and bridgework, including dental implants. Nikolaos was highly regarded by dentists and colleagues as a very skilful technician with a great eye for detail.
After several years, of practice as a dental technician, Nikolaos realised that he would feel more fulfilled by interacting more directly with patients. He therefore decided to further his education at the Westmead Hospital training centre, where he completed the Diploma of Dental Therapy in 1999. He thus became very experienced in most facets of children’s clinical dentistry. It was during this period of his life that the need for prevention of dental disease was instilled into Nikolaos, and his dedication to this earned him a High Distinction in Oral Health Promotion. Due to this, upon graduation, he was presented with an award. He was the first to be granted such an award.
Nikolaos then decided to extend his education even further, and qualified for the Diploma of Dental Hygiene, in 2001, achieving a distinction in periodontics.
Since 2001 Nikolaos has worked in private practice, joining the The Bondi Dentists in July 2002. He has become an integral part of the practice, and he is responsible for our preventative maintenance programme. His personal enthusiasm and vigilance when attending to our patient’s preventative needs, which is essential for modern dentistry, has helped many patients over many years now. Often patients have commented, “If I met you years ago, I would still have all my teeth”.
The preventative dentistry programme includes:
Management of periodontal disease. (ie: gum and bone deterioration)
Management of erosive tooth wear and tooth decay
Saliva testing and dietary advice
General oral health care
- Implant care and maintenance
- Management of halitosis (bad smelling breath)
Nikolaos is an active member of the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia and has served as a committee member of the NSW branch since 2002. He has held positions in the Continuing Education Committee, has been the Vice President and is now finishing his 2nd year as President of the DHAA NSW Branch (2013, 2014).
